JOB PURPOSE

The purpose of the role is to seek and develop enquiries from Builders, Contractors and Associated Trades in our industry that use our products. Interest shown by clients and enquiries secured should be converted to orders wherever possible. You will be expected to focus on general site and office calls of existing, lapsed and potential clients, promoting the company’s products and services at all times. You will be based in our office outside of Liverpool.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Attain personal hire and sales targets and contribute to overall performance goals as set out in the company’s strategies and associated business plan. Targets will include, but not limited to, key performance indicators, turnover budgets and profit margins.
  2. Plan your week ahead to maximise face to face contact by way of cold calls, targeting lapsed, existing or potential clients and making appropriate appointments where necessary, providing weekly feedback to the sales Director on progress.
  3. Work to the reporting procedures required for both forward planning and reporting.
  4. Respond to leads and referrals given, ensuring they are followed through effectively to completion, sweeping up on enquiries and interest shown from clients.
  5. Manage customer accounts to their and the company’s satisfaction.
  6. Manage your territory to make most effective use of time.
  7. Manage customers/territory, sorting by area and grade of client, providing adequate rotation of client calls and territory coverage.
  8. Liaise regularly with the internal sales team and providing support when required.
  9. Where appropriate, produce computer-generated hire and sales quotations, converting enquiries to orders where possible, and proceeding to conclusion, for yard/transport to facilitate delivery.
  10. Increase client awareness of the company and its products and services, developing business improvement and aiming for the maximising of revenue.
  11. Be aware of new product development, market changes, competitor activity and pricing policies, providing information to other members of staff.
  12. Adhere to the company pricing policy, including use of any price guide and comply with company credit control instructions.
  13. Contribute to determining, and participate in producing your personal development plan and training needs, providing input at regular intervals towards your appraisal.
  14. Take ownership of specific tasks as assigned to you from time to time.
  15. Maintain functional links with other company areas of the business in order to contribute to the effective running of the company.
  16. To conduct yourself in a manner which reflects the professional image of the company.
  17. Ensure the condition of the company car used by yourself is kept clean and tidy at all times and serviced when due.
  18. Follow company policies for discipline, Health & safety.

Safe working practices and safety precautions must be adhered to, protective clothing and equipment must be used where provided. All accidents or near misses must be reported to your line manager who has to participate in accident prevention by reporting all potential hazards.
