Nine Containers to the West Indies in Five Days

As the UK battled a severe cold snap, our team at George Roberts was busy overcoming a very different challenge: responding to an urgent international request with the speed, precision and reliability that our customers worldwide have come to expect. We received an emergency order from our valued customer, Worldwide Access Solutions.

Their client in the West Indies required a significant quantity of scaffolding equipment quickly. Including Scaffold boards and scaffold tubes. With time against us and temperatures dropping below freezing, our team immediately switched into high-gear.

From the moment the order was confirmed, every department pulled together to ensure a seamless turnaround. Thanks to our extensive 25-acre site and vast stockholding, which is  one of the largest in the UK, we were able to begin preparing equipment almost instantly. Our product availability is one of our greatest strengths and in situations like this, it becomes a decisive advantage for our customers. Whether working at height on major construction projects or coordinating access solutions overseas, having the right kit available at the right time is critical. In this case, there was zero margin for delay.

Over the course of just five working days, our team successfully loaded nine full containers of scaffolding equipment, working closely with our trusted shipping partners to secure reliable routes and departure times. Years of experience supporting global projects meant we already had the infrastructure, relationships and proven processes in place to move quickly. Even so, the scale and pace of this order called for outstanding teamwork, careful coordination and an unwavering commitment to delivering on our promise.

Behind the scenes, our Export Coordinator, Sharon Derbyshire, led the logistics with her signature professionalism and attention to detail. Sharon has overseen countless international projects, and her expertise was central to ensuring that every piece of equipment was picked, prepared and documented correctly for global shipment. Alongside her, our dedicated loading team demonstrated the resilience and determination that defines George Roberts. Working in freezing conditions, they kept the operation moving from dawn until dusk, picking and packing equipment bound for a far warmer climate. Their hard work, reliability and refusal to let the weather slow them down were instrumental in meeting the tight deadline.

Thanks to the collective effort of our people and the strength of our supply chain. Every deadline was met, every requirement was fulfilled and the full shipment left right on schedule. It was a powerful reminder of what sets George Roberts apart: our ability to react quickly, coordinate complex international deliveries and consistently support customers who rely on us to keep their projects moving.

Over the past year alone, we’ve shipped equipment to the Middle East, Africa, the West Indies, Australia, Central America and the United States. No matter the destination, our customers know they can count on us for dependable service, high-quality products and rapid turnaround times. This project stands as another example of our proven track record,  demonstrating why, when time is tight and expectations are high, George Roberts delivers.
